Protect your PC - Practice Safe Hex!

I recently had to competely format my home PC. It had slowed down to a veritable crawl and was maddeningly frustrating. I wiped it completely clean and reinstalled just what I needed. I'm convinced it was crawling with spyware and other malicious code. Now I'm dedicated to protecting my PCs. Here is a good read if you are interested in doing it as well: http://blogs.zdnet.com/Spyware/index.php?p=733

(Sorry for the URL - my "Insert URL" button disappeared. I'll try to fix it soon.)

Also, run through Jason's Toolbox Test to see just how vulnerable you are:

I use Mozilla whenever I can - many of the exploitations are geared for Internet Exploder. I also use Norton Antivirus and Spybot, a freeware active anti-spyware application. I also use a Yahoo e-mail account for sites that request an e-mail address. Many sites will sell e-mail addresses to spammers. Once they get hold of it, it's only a matter of time before it's mined by virus programmers. Also, I don't forward a lot of the junk that gets forwarded to me. Many people who forward those things don't know how to clean up messages and they are easily mined for the multitude of addresses that collect at the top of the multitude of attachments.

It may seem like a lot, but my computers stay relatively virus, spyware and spam free.
